MEET ANITA FRANKLIN
Alumni Giving Back to SAISD, Anita Franklin (Fox Tech High School, SAISD – 1987)
Anita Franklin is teaching Texas History at Tafolla Middle School. After graduating from college, Anita felt she should give back to the community that helped her become the woman that she is today. “Teaching is a part of me, and I had a great example growing up. My mother was a teacher for the district, as well as an alumnus of San Antonio ISD (Wheatley High School). She taught me responsibility and caring for our community. I thought about the great teachers who taught me the skills that I needed to compete in this world. I made up my mind to be one of those teachers.”
One of the things Anita most loves about her job is the content she is teaching: Texas History. The city of San Antonio has so much history, I am proud to share that history with my students. When students tell you, “I think she is a good teacher,” I feel blessed and humbled by the comments. #SAISDNation #SAISDProud #ThankATeacher SAISD Foundation
MEET CESAR GARZA
Alumni Giving Back to SAISD, Cesar Garza (Jefferson – 2013)
I am currently teaching journalism, photojournalism, and yearbook to all grade levels (9th-12th) at Jefferson High School, SAISD. I chose to come back to San Antonio ISD, and specifically to Jefferson because I was already familiar with the culture of this campus and the family-oriented staff around me. SAISD allowed me to not only graduate from high school but also pursue a degree with the dream to one day be back in the district I came from.
What I love most about my job is seeing my students succeed in anything they set their minds to. I always tell my students, “the way you do anything is the way you do everything.” Watching this resonate with them brings me great joy every day. #SAISDNation #SAISDProud #ThankATeacher SAISD Foundation
