"Receiving this grant has helped me in the classroom, by giving me and all of my classmates the opportunity to work hands on with professional equipment. This is the first opportunity that I and many others have gotten to work hands on with special equipment like this for film. This grant has allowed me to express my creativity more by working with high end equipment and creating an enhanced production value."

College Tour Visits East Coast Schools!

With the investment from the Valero Energy Foundation through the SAISD Foundation, the College Tour Program was able to send more than 650 students on college tours across Texas and the United States, this year.

"Being able to be a part of this Northeast College Tour, has had such a positive impact on my life. I often thought college tours and visiting colleges was unnecessary. I didn’t know that being able to set foot on the actual campus, getting a tour from an actual student, and listening to experiences from the students and faculty would be so amazing and helpful. I got to experience the atmosphere of the school and the environment on campus and around. Also, it allowed me to picture myself on campus and decide if the college would be a good fit for me and my interests. Touring colleges gave me opportunities to ask questions and see how the different colleges are in their own way, unique. I think every student on the tour, including myself, were able to relate to the college in some way. Sometimes, the tour guides would ask us what we were interested in and told us how their college could benefit those interests. I was able to develop relationships with the people I was seeing everyday and I hope to be applying to similar schools with them. Overall, an awesome experience that changed my perspective on colleges and my best match, while also opening me up to new people." - A quote from a student who attended the Northeast College Tour.
