SUPPORTING SUCCESS

High School Students Prepare to Visit Colleges Nationwide

The first two groups of students participating in the recently expanded College Tour Program embark on their journeys this coming week. This expansion, now funded by a five-year grant from the the Valero Energy Foundation through the SAISD Foundation as part of the Pipeline to College Success, engages top scholars in the Class of 2019 (current 11th graders) in visiting top-tier institutions - including Duke, Georgetown and John Hopkins universities. The schools selected annually are highly selective, have high retention and graduation rates for first-generation college students, and the vast majority of them meet up to 100 percent of financial aid. Additional students will continue visiting colleges later with spring and in early summer including top schools in Texas and nearby states with more than 250 students taking part in the program.
