We are inspired by our students who are quickly becoming a well-educated and talented workforce for our community. We are inspired by our alumni who walked these halls and paved the way for today's students.

Funder Spotlight: Methodist Healthcare Ministries

Funds awarded through Methodist Healthcare Ministries to the SAISD Foundation this spring provide a much-needed infusion of parts and tools to expand Device Repair Labs on high school campuses. This investment is critical to meeting the need for device upkeep and repair for our student's one-to-one technology while our educators enable students to earn workforce certifications. Under the guidance of the SAISD IT Department, and in collaboration with Career and Tech classroom teachers students are hard at work repairing devices and learning valuable skills while working toward their CompTIA  A+ Certification. The program is currently underway at Edison High School and will be expanded to Burbank, Brackenridge, CAST Tech, and Sam Houston.

Expanding Student Experiences: Robotics

We enjoyed seeing the energy and talent of our students on display at SAISD’s second annual district-wide FIRST LEGO League Tournament for grades 4-8. With dedicated robotics funding from The Najim Charitable Foundation, we have increased our support of robotics teams and their competitive events at the elementary, middle, and high school levels this year. Wishing our winning teams well in their regional competitions next month! Learn more here.

Whole-School Grants Continue at Nelson E.C.E.

In February, we awarded our sixth principal grant of the year to Nelson Early Childhood Education Center! The Lions LEGO Lab project is aimed at helping some of our youngest learners ensure they are ready for kindergarten. Principal Mendez says it best in the video below. These kinds of building tools can impact early childhood development including oral language, gross motor skills, persistence, and collaboration. We will continue to award principal grants for the rest of the spring semester. Follow @SAISDFoundation for more school-wide grant award announcements.
